Fogia - The New Benchmark of Swedish Design

Fogia, Swedish design company and furniture producer, collaborates with some of the most progressive contemporary designers working today. With roots in the Scandinavian design aesthetic, Fogia’s products are handmade in their company owned factory to stringent standards of quality and construction, using high-end materials and craftsmanship. Graceful elegance and purposeful function are realized through a genuine knowledge of craft and construction, whether it’s pieces for the home or public spaces.

Fogia was established in 1981 by Hans Rosander and Lars Fritzell, and originally named A.B.G — Trading. The founders’ developed a pioneering method for joining sheets of plexiglass to create striking tables and storage. In the years that followed, the company grew and began producing other pieces of furniture, changing names to Fogia Collection in 1986.

Fogia’s reputation as makers of quality furniture developed fast, receiving plenty of contract and public space commissions while also steadily building a network of retailers around Sweden. Today we still proudly uphold the Fogia brand DNA, with strong personal relationships with all our retailers.

Fogia’s furniture is crafted by hand from scratch in the Fogia factory in Gdansk, Poland, using the best mix of traditional and modern techniques, controlling production quality throughout the entire production chain. One of the main aspects that defines Fogia is the approach to selecting and working with wood and timber. Fogia selects timber while it still grows in the forests close to the factory, and always tries to source locally to minimize transport. Fogia begins with the uncut log, milling it themselves to minimize waste. And the natural materials and suppliers are close partners, allowing Fogia greater control to ensure they meet their own stringent environmental standards.

In 2011, Fogia changed ownership and was taken in a new direction, working collaboratively with a roster of designers from across the Nordics and Europe. Fogia remains loyal to its roots as one of Sweden’s upholstered furniture experts but also pushes boundaries within the conventional design framework. Today, Fogia sets the tone and pace of Swedish design with modern icons like Tiki and Bollo altering the shape and expression of Nordic design. Fogia is the benchmark of Swedish design; always likely to surprise and innovate to break with traditional norms.
