Gestalt New York, in collaboration with Danish artist, Stine Maria Aalykke from CAN Family, presents “Taking a Break,” a new series of portraits portraying moments of pause.
Artist and illustrator Stine is fascinated with how the world works today. Everybody everywhere seems to be busy. When and how do people take a break with all that’s going on – physically and mentally, socially and personally, online and offline? For her new portrait series, Stine challenges this contemplation by portraying a simple moment, a person, a feeling – nothing more, nothing less. The viewer is left to do the same.
Gestalt New York will present this series at their Hudson Showroom beginning with an opening event on Saturday, November 2nd. The portraits will be available for purchase through December 8th. The showroom is located at 614 Warren Street, Hudson, NY 12534.
“With the desire to be present in the moment, I explore the sense of calm and peace, an elusive time-out moment through my series of portraits,” remarks Stine. “Surrounded by a hectic pace, high expectations and constant change, I depict the contrast to the world today - stop, breathe and just be”
Based in Copenhagen, CAN Family is known for colors and a playful mind. For more than 10 years Stine has been running the family-owned well-known gallery and record store, CAN Family. Together with her family she has created a fun and unpretentious universe and a cornucopia of color and form, music and magic.
The exhibition consists of 12 original portraits, oil paint and pastels on canvas, which will be displayed with new furniture designs from brands like Fogia, Mazo, DK3, and Grazia & Co.
